One Step Closer

I’d like to tell you the story a mama.

A mama who felt such a deep love.  A love so deep it was selfless.  A love so selfless it hurt.  A hurt so intense that it would take years to heal.  Years to heal because life wouldn’t allow her the chance to care for the child she loved so deeply.

I’d like to tell you the story a second mama.

A mama who felt such deep love.  A love so deep it filled her empty womb.  A womb that couldn’t seem to carry a child.  A child whom she longed for, ached for, but seemed as if she would never get to know.

These two mamas didn’t know one another.  But God knew them.  And God loved them.

And God had a plan.

A plan etched into their lives in such a way that many will never comprehend; including those two mamas.

A plan that would come full circle.  In HIS time.

He loved these two mamas so intensely that he gave them a gift.  A gift they would each share in a separate part of their hearts.

A baby girl.

A baby girl who would fill one mama’s womb, and another mama’s world.

That baby girl…. was me.

This is our story.

The story of mamas.

The story of babies.

The story of God's love.

The story of adoption.

For the record: there are loving daddies involved in this beautiful saga as well. But for story telling purposes, they weren’t included in this post.

  1. How sweet. Are you guys adopting right now? You know I think thats awesome, and I can see what amazing parents you are to Sophie in your pics. As my only fellow adoptee friend, even though its been a million years, I know you truly understand the journey. Best wishes always, can't wait to read all about it, and celebrate an "anniversary/gotcha day" from afar for a child I may never meet!! <3 Ari
