2013

Disclaimer: This has truly been a WONDERFUL year.  But, in true ebb and flow form, with the good, comes the bad.  This post is not the happiest of updates...but I know the good is waiting just around the corner. Come on FLOW! Let's curtail this EBB! ;)

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven."

A time to weep

A time to mourn

It is a very sad day in the adoption world.

Starting today, January 1, 2013, orphans in Russia are no longer eligible for adoption by American families.

There are so many families who have already met their children.
Mamas have rocked their little ones to sleep.
Daddies have tickled their little ones' bellies.
Parents have LOVED on their children.
Courts have pronounced these orphans official members of families.

Now, starting today, none of that matters.

With Putin's swipe of a pen, he has turned innocent children into political pawns.

He has devastated families.

He has literally taken life away from his country's weakest.

Our own adoption story is tangled up in this mess.

But God is moving.

Members of the Russian Government have attempted to add an amendment into the Adoption Ban Bill.

The amendment calls for an exception for special needs orphans.

"Special Needs"

Don't all orphans have special needs?!

The "special" need to feel accepted, loved, cared for, safe, warm, fed.
To have a mommy to kiss their hurts and a daddy to look for monsters under their bed.

Yes.

They all have special needs.

In this amendment stands our glimmer of hope.

Our time to mend.
Our time to heal.
Our time to laugh.
Our time to dance.

Please. Continue to pray.

Mollie Grace and countless others are starting this new year out alone.

(Happy New Year little starfish.)

I pray that they don't have to end this year that way.

  2. If God is for us who can be against us... The gates of hell cannot prevail against us... He has given us all we need for life... I say yes and amen to the Kingdom of Heaven over the orphans of Russia...May 2013 be the greatest year of victory over them... and may we the Church stand up for them... Love, a sister in Christ
